Human knights have always ventured into the Otherworld to seek their fortune ― this fortune often being the vanquishing of trolls and taking of their heads as trophies. Most trolls avoid knights, going about their business and keeping a low profile when knights are rumoured to be stalking about the forests and moorland. There are, however, some trolls who relish the chance to outsmart a knight and they wait with great anticipation for one to appear in their particular part of the world. Knights, at times, confuse trolls with giants. Giants are a completely different type of creature, and to confuse the two has many a time proved fatal either to the knight or the troll, let alone the giants. The trolls who like to confront knights are usually very large and exceptionally intelligent ― something that often comes to the attention of the knight far too late in the hunt.
"I’ll tell you a tale!" shouted the troll behind the thorn hedge. "One morning, a knight put on his shiny armour and took hold of his sword and set off into the forest to find him a troll. Now that troll has a brand-new belt made of shiny metal and man teeth." The end.
